“Former Torontonian and current Vancouverite Serge Bennathan’s Slam2 is his take on the biblical Prodigal Son. Vanessa Goodman, Jane Osborne and Leigha Wald each take turns narrating the story into a dangling microphone on an empty stage. To [Bertrand Chénier]’s menacing soundscape, the three dancers execute Bennathan’s bruising trademark athleticism. It is a maelstrom of emotions and these young dancers look very strong in the telling.”
PAULA CITRON, The Globe and Mail, July 18/09

With a great many thanks to SYIDA (Society of Yukon Independent Dance Artists), TCP will be traveling to Whitehorse this June to perform the three commissions we have slowly been amassing- Leigha’s solo by Rob Kitsos (funded by a Yukon Advanced Artist Award), a duet for Vanessa and I by Justine Chambers, and our trio (generously funded by the Canada Council for the Arts) by Serge Bennathan.
We will be performing alongside Yukon artists and SYIDA co-founders Jude Wong and Andrea Simpson-Folwer, who will be presenting their own choreography. In addition we will be hosting a workshop and Youth Creation Residency for pre-professional dance students. Six participants will be selected from the workshop to participate in the creation residency and ultimately perform in choreography by TCP in the final production.
Performances will be June 12th and 13th at The Old Fire Hall in Whitehorse, Yukon.
