Jane was first taken to ballet class in Princes Risborough, England by her Grandmother when she was five years old. After moving to Toronto, Canada at the age of eight she enrolled in RAD ballet classes at the Conservatory of Dance and Music under the direction of Cynthia Fisher, A.R.A.D. In 2001 Jane moved out west to study theatre at Simon Fraser University. It was at SFU that Jane was fully introduced to the aesthetic of contemporary dance and after careful deliberation she shifted her focus and pursued a BFA in dance.

Since graduating she has had the pleasure of working with Catherine Anderson, Serge Bennathan, Martha Carter (apprenticeship), Justine Chambers, Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, Jennifer Clarke, Judith Garay (understudy), Rob Kitsos, Vanessa Mayrand, Deanna Peters, Alvin Tolentino, Peter Chin (apprenticeship), and Chengxin Wei, performing at numerous local venues, nationally in Edmonton and Whitehorse, and internationally at the Hong Kong Dance Festival.

In March 2007, Jane completed work on her first dance film, ‘Drive’ which has screened at various Canadian festivals including Vancouver’s Women in Film and Television Festival 2008, and internationally in Brazil, Hungary, the Philippines and the USA.

Jane is also a founding member of The Contingency Plan collective with Vanessa Goodman and Leigha Wald. The collective is committed to the creation of new works through collective process, individually and by the commissioning of senior artists.

An active and passionate teacher, Jane has been teaching Ballet and Creative dance at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby, BC for the past three years. Previous to that she taught at various Community Centres throughout the Lower Mainland.
